My Story

Dogs have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up surrounded by them, with my parents owning multiple Bearded Collies, so muddy paws and wagging tails were just part of everyday life. As a teenager, our family welcomed a Gordon Setter puppy, Lexxie- and that’s where my real learning began.

Lexxie was full of energy, curiosity, and mischief, as you’d expect from such a high-energy working breed. She was my first true puppy experience, and while we did our best, it quickly became clear that not everything we tried worked. Along the way, a few unwanted habits crept in. But, those early challenges taught me invaluable lessons about patience, consistency, and how important it is to truly understand what a dog is communicating- rather than just expecting them to fit into our world.

Now, working with dogs in a professional capacity, I get to see firsthand how differently each dog responds to various situations. Dogs are constantly communicating through subtle body language and behaviour cues, and once you learn to spot them, everything starts to make sense. By focusing on these signals, you can understand your dog on a much deeper level.

Through hands-on experience, assisting other professionals, and completing a range of IMDT courses, I’ve developed a structured yet compassionate approach to training. My goal is to guide you and your dog through clear, achievable steps- helping you build understanding, confidence, and ultimately a stronger bond together.
